An oral care device during operation of the oral care device may be powered to provide a motion of at least a part of a head portion. An automated operation may cause that application material provided on the head portion may be sprayed around when the head portion is located outside the mouth of the operator or user. An oral care device is therefore provided, which may avoid a switching on of the oral care device outside the users mouth. A head portion (2) for the oral care device (1) to be inserted into a users oral cavity is provided having a housing (4) being at least partly formed of an electrically isolating material, a first electrode (6) for forming part of a capacitor, and a first electrically conducting path for connecting the first electrode (6) to a processor (8), wherein the first electrode (6) is electrically isolated by the electrically isolating material of the housing (4) such that it is not exposed to an outside environment of the head portion (2).
