The present invention relates to a photoaging inhibitor, and more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition, a food composition or a cosmetic composition for preventing, alleviating or treating skin photoaging, comprising a metabolite of Theobroma cacao, (5-3′,4′-dihydroxyphenyl)-γ-valerolactone (DHPV) as an effective component. The effective component contained in the compositions according to the present invention, DHPV, shows excellent skin anti-aging functions at a low concentration of 1 nM with respect to skin cells by regulating the expression of proteins epigenetically associated with skin aging, and thus the compositions containing the same may be extremely useful as drugs, cosmetics, and foods for preventing, alleviating and treating skin aging.본 발명은 광노화 억제제에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 카카오의 대사산물인 DHPV(5-3',4'-Dihydroxyphenyl)-γ-valerolactone)를 유효성분으로 포함하는, 피부 광노화 예방, 개선 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물, 식품 조성물 또는 화장료 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 조성물에 포함되는 유효성분인 DHPV는 후성유전학적으로 피부노화와 관련된 단백질의 발현을 조절하여 피부 세포를 기준으로 1nM의 낮은 농도에서 탁월한 피부노화 방지 기능을 나타내는바, 이를 포함하는 조성물은 피부 노화 예방, 개선 및 치료를 위한 약품, 화장품 및 식품으로의 활용도가 우수하다.
