PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus having a bed for an MR apparatus, which adopts a spherical roller mechanism having the risk of damaging a travelling surface by high contact surface pressure in a state without damaging the travelling surface by distributing a load by a damper mechanism, and moves the roller mechanism in an arbitrary direction with a simple structure.
SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes: respective magnetic field generating means, i.e., a static magnetic field generating means for generating a static magnetic field and a gradient magnetic field generating means for generating a gradient magnetic field a high frequency coil for irradiating the inspection region of a subject with electromagnetic wave and detecting a magnetic resonance signal from the inspection region an image reconstituting means for obtaining an image expressing the physical quality of the inspection region of the subject through the use of the detection signal and the bed for placing the subject and moving the subject to an imaging position. The bed includes at least: a top plate for placing the subject an upper structure body for movably supporting the top plate at least in a longitudinal direction the roller mechanism arranged on the lower surface of the top plate, facing the upper structure body, and placed on the upper structure body and a lower structure body for supporting the upper structure body. An elastic material is arranged between the roller mechanism and the top plate.
