The present invention relates to a method for controlling unwanted vegetation in a plant growing site, comprising the steps of providing at said site a plant comprising at least one nucleic acid comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a protoporphyrinogen oxidase (ppo) which is resistant or tolerant to a powder inhibiting herbicide by applying an effective amount of said herbicide to said site.
