The present invention relates to compositions containing one or more derivatives of essential oil compounds for use in personal care compositions, such as oral, throat and skin care compositions. These derivatives include aldehyde acetals and ketones of the source essential oil； phenol esters or ethers of the essential oil of origin； and esters of the acids of the source essential oil. Examples of the essential oil aldehydes and ketones of origin include citral, cinnamic aldehyde, <；sym>； -anisaldehyde, vanillin, ethyl vanillin, heliotropin, carvone and mentone. Examples of alcohols and phenolics of the essential oil of origin include thymol, eugenol, isoeugenol, dihydroeugenol, carvacrol, carveol, geraniol, nerol, vanillyl alcohol, heliotropyl alcohol, <；sym>； anisilic alcohol, cinnamyl alcohol and <；225>； -ionol . Examples of essential oil acids of origin include <；sym>； -anisic acid, cinnamic acid, vanillic acid and geranic acid.
