PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of directly introducing only a functional group containing sulfur into the surface of a polymer material easily and without causing deterioration in a base material caused by heating and/or light irradiation even if using a polymer material deteriorated in heat resistance and/or light resistance.SOLUTION: A polymer material containing simple substance sulfur on the surface is irradiated with ultraviolet radiation, thus a functional group containing sulfur on the surface of the polymer material can be chemically coupled, and the obtained polymer material surface is further treated with a metallic solution or a metallic particle-dispersed solution to carry the metal on the polymer surface.
