The invention provides Cav2.3 R-type voltage gated calcium channel (coded by the CACNA1E gene) antagonists for the treatment and for use in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Parkinsons disease, and pharmaceutical compositions comprising these Cav2.3 R-type calcium channel antagonists.
