The present invention relates to a light treatment apparatus for simulating apsychophysical borderline experience comprising a light emitting apparatus foremittinglight perceivable by the human eye as well as a control apparatus forcontrolling thelight emission apparatus. In accordance with the invention, the light emissionapparatushas at least one permanent light source as well as at least one flickeringlight sourcewhose flickering light can be superimposed on the permanent light of thepermanentlight source in the region of a treatment area, with the control apparatushaving afrequency control module which increases or reduces the frequency of theflickeringlight source from a starting frequency to a target frequency in at least oneaccelerationpassage. A psychophysical borderline experience can be simulated by thecombinatoryeffect of the two light sources which induces the intense therapeutic effectsboth on thepsychological level and on the physical level, e.g. relating to physical painor othersymptoms, and (deep) psychological relaxation.
