The present invention relates to an eye model 10 for use with diagnostic apparatus. The eye model 10 comprises a retina component (22, figure 2) defining a concave surface having a pattern thereon representing anatomical features of a retina. The eye model also comprises a meniscus lens arrangement 18 representing a cornea and a biconvex lens arrangement between the meniscus lens arrangement and the concave surface. The eye model further comprises a support structure 12, 14 supporting the meniscus lens arrangement, the biconvex lens arrangement and the retina component relative to each other. The retina component may comprise at least one symbol which is not representative of an anatomical feature of a retina.
