PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Co-Cr based alloy for an implant member which has excellent compatibility with the living body, and can sufficiently exhibit various characteristics such as strength, corrosion and wear resistance optimum in accordance with the using parts and directions thereof.
SOLUTION: In the method for producing a Co-Cr based alloy single crystal for an implant member using a Bridgman method, a Co-Cr based alloy having a prescribed composition is melted at 1,500 to 2,050°C, and crystal growing is performed at a growing rate of 1.0 to 500 mm/h under the condition that the temperature gradient is &ge0.5°C/mm. Further, a surface defect-shaped martensite phase along a specified direction is introduced therein.
