PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To faciliate determination of the shape and the size of a valve leaflet when restoring the aortic valve or the like using a valve leaflet formed from biological membrane of oneself.
SOLUTION: An instrument for forming a valve leaflet is provided, which includes valve leaflet sizers (2) for determining the size of a valve leaflet appropriate for the size of the valve of the heart and a template (3) for drawing a line of the shape of a valve leaflet on an artificial membrane or a biological membrane in accordance with the measured valve leaflet size. In the valve leaflet sizers (2), a plurality of sizer blocks (G
1 -G8 ) having arc surfaces (24) and formed by cutting columns (22) of various diameters at an angle corresponding to the central angle of the commissure are attached to the distal ends of handles (21) respectively. The template (3) has drawing sections (31) each having an almost semicircular valve leaflet base forming section (33) and a coaptation zone forming section (34) continued from the valve leaflet base forming section. The diameter of each valve leaflet base forming section is the sum of a margin (w) and the nominal diameter (D1 -D8 ) of a sizer block (G1 -G8 ) having an arc section (24) whose both ends fit the commissures on both sides.COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
