A process that includes the following stages: (a) obtain information related to the use of the user's lenses, in which the information related to the use of the lenses includes: (i) a list of activities for which the user intends to carry the ophthalmic lenses； and (ii) for each activity listed, a lens utilization factor that indicates a proportion of time that the user intends to use the ophthalmic lenses for each of the listed activities； (b) enter information regarding the use of the lenses in a programmed computer； (c) the programmed computer processes information regarding the use of the lenses to provide a separate weighted lifestyle score for each of one or more respective lifestyle score categories, each weighted lifestyle score being a function of a predetermined relationship between the respective lifestyle score category and at least one ophthalmic lens design feature, in which the processing of the information relating to the use of the lenses to provide a weighted lifestyle score for A respective lifestyle scoring category includes the steps of: (A) obtaining a separate activity score for each activity from the list of activities； (B) calculate a separate proportional score for each activity, where each proportional score is calculated using the product of the activity score and the respective lens utilization factor； and (C) calculate the weighted lifestyle score for the list of activities, where the weighted lifestyle score is calculated using the sum of the separate proportional scores； and (d) the programmed computer selects or designs a progressive addition ophthalmic lens design using one or more of the weighted lifestyle scores； in which the stage of selecting or designing a progressive addition ophthalmic lens design using one or more of the weighted lifestyle scores includes: (i) selecting a lens design from a pre-existing range of lens designs according to one or more of the weighted lifestyle scores； and (ii) modify the selected lens design a
