The present invention relates to a recombinant protein to synthesize silica and a use thereof. The recombinant protein of the present invention enables formation of silica through soluble expression, can be produced in a form of insoluble thin sheets, and exhibits effects of promoting bone regeneration or differentiation due to high binding ability with calcium, thereby being used as a crucial technology in fields associated with bone graft materials and supports for tissue engineering.본 발명은 실리카 합성을 위한 재조합 단백질 및 이의 용도에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에서, 상기 재조합 단백질은 가용성 발현을 통한 실리카의 형성뿐만 아니라, 불용성 상태의 얇은 막 (sheet) 형태로도 제조될 수 있으며, 칼슘과의 높은 결합능에 따른 골 재생 또는 분화 촉진 효과를 확인할 수 있었는바, 본 발명은 골 이식재 및 조직 공학용 지지체 분야의 핵심 기술로 이용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
