A tissue luminal stent is provided that includes a body having an elongated tubular configuration and a shortened configuration. In the shortened configuration, the downstream and upstream ends of the body expand radially into the downstream and upstream flange structures, leaving a generally cylindrical saddle-like region therebetween. In some embodiments, the flange structures are asymmetric with respect to each other.
