PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an unknown semisolid composition for the oral cavity keeping ascorbic acid stable over a long period without causing solidification with time and having excellent shape retaining properties.SOLUTION: This semisolid composition for the oral cavity comprises a polyvinylpyrrolidone having 10,000-360,000 number-average molecular weight, a polyhydric alcohol such as polyethylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol, propylene glycol, a concentrated glycerol, diglycerol or dipropylene glycol and the ascorbic acid.
