1. A method of cleaning the oral cavity comprising: a. installing in said oral cavity corresponding device for detection and removal of plaque from the surface of at least one tooth in said oral cavity, b. substantially simultaneously cleaning and irradiating said surface with at least one tooth in said oral cavity, wherein at said at least one tooth is applied a fluorescent agent capable of binding to plaque on said surface of said at least one tooth, wherein the wavelength incident radiation effectively provides fluorescent radiation when interacting with said fluorescent agent on said surface of said at least one tooth, c. collecting at least a portion of said fluorescent radiation over a first period of time, d. determining a first mean value of the fluorescence radiation (APV1) on the basis of said fluorescent radiation, collected during said first period of time, e. collecting at least a portion of said fluorescent radiation over a second time period, f. determining a second mean value of plaque (APV2) on the basis of said fluorescent radiation, collected during said second period of time and g. comparing said APV1 with said APV2.2. A method according to Claim. 1, wherein the reflected light is obtained by reacting said incident radiation at said surface is collected, substantially simultaneously with said fluorescent emission and said APV1 and APV2 are compensated values APV.3. A method according to Claim. 1, wherein said mouth1.
