The device has a superconductive wire (75) that forms a closed conductor loop. The superconductive wire exhibits two arches (92, 94) that are arranged along sections of a superconductive magnetic coil (70) of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system. The arches are arranged in such a manner that the arches are magnetically coupled with a magnetic gradient field for locally shielding the superconductive magnetic coil, where the magnetic gradient field is produced by a magnetic field gradient of a direction (Gy).
