Lupeol-rich extract is used to make a pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition for treating or preventing degeneration of dermal, cartilage and/or gingival connective tissue associated with anomalous collagen production. ACTIVITY : Antiarthritic； Antiinflammatory； Dermatological； Vulnerary. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Stress protein synthesis stimulant. An ethanol solution of lupeol (4.5 Microg/ml) was tested on cultured human fibroblasts to determine its effect on the expression of the gene coding for heat shock protein HSP47 using a cDNA microarray technique. The expression level after 18 hours was 129% of control.
