The present invention is to provide a controlled release pharmaceutical composition comprises of highly soluble drug and plant derived product like Hydrogenated oils as sole controlled release matrix forming excipient which reduces or eliminates the initial burst effect and control the release of highly soluble drug over extended period of time from suitable dosage form. Further the present invention also provides simple, cost effective, less time consuming process for preparing the said composition by Hot melt granulation technique.
