PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for switching operation modes by which the order of the operation modes can be automatically switched in a milking system having a milking mode, a cleaning mode and a sterilization mode.SOLUTION: A method for switching operation modes of a milking system switches the following three modes in sequence: a sterilization mode Xs in which the inside of a vacuum line for milking for sending milk expressed through teat cups is sterilized a milking mode Xp in which milk is expressed from nipples to be milked through the teat cups and a cleaning operation mode Xc in which the vacuum line for sending milk connected with the teat cups is cleaned.
