PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide various types of pharmaceutical composition particularly for oral administration that is pharmaceutically prepared for sustained release of active compounds useful for treating Parkinson's disease and injury of a nervous system in particular.SOLUTION: The present invention provides use of an active medicine selected from R(+)-N-propargyl-1-aminoindane (rasagiline) and S(-)-N-propargyl-1-aminoindane or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for producing a pharmaceutical composition for treating injury of a neurodegenerative disease or a nervous system, in which the pharmaceutical composition is pharmaceutically prepared for sustained release of the active medicine, and daily dosage of the active medicine in the pharmaceutical composition is within a range of 0.2 to 2.0 mg.
