PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon catheter that allows a blade part to come in contact with a calcified lesioned part while keeping good passing performance of the balloon, and a treatment method using the balloon catheter.SOLUTION: In a balloon catheter 1 having a balloon 11 at the tip of a long-sized shaft 10, the shaft 10 includes a lumen 24 for a long-sized body for inserting a long-sized body 13 having a blade part 41 at least at a part in the lengthwise direction. The lumen 24 for a long-sized body includes an opening 25 in the vicinity of the balloon 11.
