Material for bone regeneration for use in a method of treating a patient suffering from degenerative bone disease, which can be characterized by loss of bone mineral density (BMD), the method comprising forming a void in a localized area of the intact bone by cleaning the degenerated bone material and, optionally removing part of the degenerated bone material; and at least partially filling the formed void with bone regeneration material, providing for the formation of new non-degenerated bone material in the void. 2. The bone regeneration material according to claim 1, characterized in that the degenerative bone disease is selected from the group consisting of osteopenia and osteoporosis. The bone regeneration material according to claim 1, characterized in that the bone regeneration material includes osteoinductive material, osteoconductive material, osteogenic material, bone formation promoting material, anti-osteoporotic material or osteophilic material. Bone regeneration material according to claim 1, characterized in that the bone regeneration material includes calcium sulfate. 6. Bone regeneration material according to claim 4, characterized in that the bone regeneration material further comprises calcium phosphate.
