The extension device comprises a patient support surface, an extension piston (16) and an interface (14) which comprises a bearing surface side coupling part and a bar side coupling part. The bearing surface side coupling part is pivoted at a longitudinal column (10) around an axis perpendicular to a pelvis supporting plate. The bearing surface side coupling part is locked relative to a rotation around its swiveling axis opposite to the longitudinal column by a locking device.
