A scanning endoscope apparatus (1) includes: a light source unit (21); an illumination fiber (12) inserted inside an insertion portion of an endoscope, the illumination fiber (12) being configured to guide illuminating light from a proximal end to a distal end; an actuator (15) configured to drive the distal end of the optical fiber so that the illuminating light outputted from the illumination fiber (12) is scanned on a subject; a memory (16) configured to store correlation coefficient information on a correlation coefficient between a drive signal for driving the actuator (15) and a displacement amount of the actuator (15); and a controller (25), and the controller (25) detects a current of the drive signal for driving the actuator (15) and corrects the drive signal for driving the actuator (15) based on the correlation coefficient information and a value of the detected current so that the displacement amount of the actuator (15) becomes a predetermined value.
