PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centrifugal blood pump that uses pivot bearing mechanisms, is less in heat generation in pivot bearings and also less in damage to blood.SOLUTION: The centrifugal blood pump 1 includes a housing 2 and an impeller 3. The housing 2 includes: a blood inflow port 22 extending upward in a central part of the housing a blood outflow port 23 provided on a side of the housing 2 and a projecting portion 25 extending from the inside bottom by a predetermined length in the direction of the blood inflow port. The impeller 3 has a plate-like member 35 provided in a central part of the impeller, with which a stream of blood flowing in from the blood inflow port 22 comes into contact. The pivot bearing mechanisms 28 and 39 are provided on the internal surface of the housing 2 and on the lower surface of the plate-like member of the impeller.
