A cryoprobe is used during surgery in a human body to remove unwanted tissue.The cryoprobe includes a first gas supply line and a second gas supply linefordelivering a supply of cryogenic gas from at least adjacent a proximal end toat leastadjacent a distal end of the cryoprobe. The cryoprobe further includes a firstgas returnline and a second gas return line for returning the supply of cryogenic gasfrom at leastadjacent the distal end to at least adjacent the proximal end of thecryoprobe. At least aportion of the first gas supply line is received in the first gas return line.A transitionportion having at least one internal cavity and an aperture from the at leastone internalcavity to an exterior portion of the transition portion is also included inthe cryoprobe.The transition portion is provided to facilitate at least the transfer of thecryogenic gasfrom the second gas return line to the first gas return line, so that thecryogenic gas canflow adjacent the first gas supply line on its way to the proximal end of thecryoprobe.
