PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion generator which can prevent noise arising from electric discharge from becoming offensive to ears.SOLUTION: When an ambient noise level is lower than a prescribed threshold, a voltage that is obtained by subtracting a reduction voltage calculated according to a difference between the noise level and the prescribed threshold from 9 V, is made a direct-current voltage, so that the amplitude of an oscillation voltage applied to the discharge electrode of the ion generator is controlled to become large or small according to the height of the noise level.
