The present invention relates to topical pharmaceutical gel compositions comprising flurbiprofen or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof with glucosamine or salts thereof and chondroitin sulfate. More specifically, the invention relates to topical pharmaceutical gel compositions comprising flurbiprofen or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, glucosamine or salts thereof, chondroitin sulfate and dimethyl sulfoxide. Furthermore, the invention relates to process for preparing the said topical pharmaceutical gel compositions and its use for the treatment of osteoarthritis, pain and inflammatory symptoms associated with joint and cartilage disorders.
