A system and method are provided for acquiring image data of an object with an imaging system. The system includes a gantry that completely annularly surrounds at least a portion of the object, and a source positioned within the gantry. The source may be responsive to a signal for outputting at least one pulse. The multi-row detector can be aligned with the source and sets the multi-row detector data based on the detected at least one signal. The system includes a flat panel detector positioned within the gantry. The flat panel detector may be aligned with the source and sets the flat panel detector data based on the detected at least one signal.
