PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting device capable of shielding an exposed part of a long suspension member, which is generated due to the movement of a support member, and preventing, for example, an unexpected foreign matter from coming into contact with the long suspension member, which may cause a failure.SOLUTION: A lifting device comprises: a roller chain 33 driving and driven sprockets 31, 32 a drive device 34 for driving the driving sprocket 31 a carrier member 24 which is fixed to the roller chain 33 and lifted and lowered by moving the roller chain 33 by the drive of the drive device 34 a frame member 21 which is supported by the carrier member 24 and lifted and lowered in a reciprocating manner by the lifting and lowering of the carrier member 24 from an installation surface position near an installation surface G to a lifted position and a cover member 40 moving while following the lifting and lowering of the frame member 21.
