A device for dispensing a dental material (100) comprises a compartment (111) for the dental material, a piston (26) for extruding the dental material from the compartment, and a spindle drive (11,21,23) for moving the piston and the compartment relative to one another. The spindle drive comprises first and second threads (14,15；24,25) which are operable for moving the piston. The first thread has a first pitch and the second thread has a different second pitch. The invention may provide a relatively inexpensive and reliable dental dispensing device.
