A method for detecting a fluid release event in an absorbent article (1), in which the absorbent article (1) comprises a sensor (8) configured to generate an output electrical signal representing a degree of moisture of the absorbent article (1), in which the output electrical signal is received a processing unit (17) containing the steps of: - providing (100) the initial data in time representing a liquid release event; - receiving (200) data of the liquid release in time in the form of an electrical output signal; analyzing (300) the liquid discharge data in time relative to the initial data in time by means of the processing unit (17), so that the change in the liquid release data relative to the initial data in time is taken into account; and - detect (400) fluid release event based on analysis. 2. The method according to claim 1, in which the initial data is set in time.
