The present invention relates to a method of using a bone saw and a bone saw. The bone saw includes a distal tip-containing saw blade including a distal portion, a proximal portion, and a cutting edge. The flexible top blades are rectangular in shape across at least a portion of the flexible top blades. The bone saw further includes a top handle base insert, wherein the top shaft tip assembly includes an opening through which the flexible saw blade is advanced. The top shaft tip assembly may include a channel containing top shaft tip including a proximal portion and a proximal portion and a top channel insert disposed within the channel of the top shaft tip to form a lumen between the top shaft tip and the top channel insert.
