A two way ratchet mechanism facilitating the forward and backward motion of easily operable wheelchairs specially designed for differently abled persons. The two way ratchet of the present invention comprising an outer hub an inner slotted hub including selectively alternative two way motion pawl arrangement a sprocket coaxially supported therebetween said outer and inner hub and having inner surface teeth and outer surface teethsaid outer surface teeth of the sprocket driven with a driving power source to activate also the inner surface teeth cooperating with said selectively alternative two way pawl arrangement in said inner slotted hub for selectively alternatively directional rotary motion of the inner slotted hub which is coupled to the outer hub for transmitting driving power in selectively alternative forward and reverse direction motion involving said driving power source.
