Kit assembly of parts adapted for modifying an apparatus for continuous tempering of chocolate mass comprising a cooling stage (A), a crystallisation stage (B) and a mixing stage (C) arranged as a tempering column (141) of stacked elements. The column has central ring-shaped openings for the chocolate. The kit comprises a device part (138), a pump (137) adapted to pump the chocolate through a by-pass conduit in the device part as well as a two disc-shaped elements (139, 140). Each element has a chocolate channel extending between the periphery and the central ring-shaped opening. The discs are inserted between two neighbouring disc-shaped elements of the tempering column (141) so that the conduit is by-passing the stage (B) for creating crystals. The performance of an existing tempering column may then be improved in a very simple and economical manner. The apparatus becomes especially energy-saving and has increased capacity.
