PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constantly obtain a high-quality diagnostic image with small artifacts and without shortage of sensitivity even in a deep portion regardless of a test object and sites.SOLUTION: A transmitter/receiver section 21 scans the interior of the test object with an ultrasonic wave through a probe, and the first and second ultrasonic waves with reversed phases are sequentially transmitted and received respectively on a plurality of scan lines. An adder 23 extracts a harmonic component by adding the first and second echo signals, and the first image is generated based on the harmonic component while the second image including the harmonic component and a fundamental wave component is generated based on either the first or second echo signal.
