PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MRI apparatus capable of selecting a reception coil appropriate for image composition without acquiring additional data when photographing a subject using a multi-channel coil.
SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes: a reception means provided with the multi-channel coil composed by having a plurality of small-sized reception coils, for receiving nuclear magnetic resonance signals from the subject an operation processing means for reconstituting the image of the subject using the received nuclear magnetic resonance signals and a display means for displaying the subject image an area input means for setting a signal acquisition area for acquiring the nuclear magnetic resonance signals on a positioning image and a selection means for selecting at least one small-sized reception coil corresponding to the signal acquisition area. The operation processing means reconstitutes the subject image using only the nuclear magnetic resonance signals of each of the at least one selected small-sized reception coil.
