A chimeric polypeptide having immunogenic somatostatin and comprising: the amino acid sequence of somatostatin-14, associated with a substantially inactive and truncated chloramphenicol acetyl transferase polypeptide, somatostatin-14 which is associated with the inactive chloramphenicol acetyltransferase via a spacer, wherein the spacer is optimized for optimal expression of the chimeric target polypeptide in a host cell, and wherein the inactive chloramphenicol comprises at least a histidine residue 193 replaced by alanine, glycine or other like amino acid.2. A chimeric polypeptide according to claim 1, wherein the spacer has the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 11.3. A chimeric polypeptide according to claim 1, wherein the substantially inactive and truncated chloramphenicol acetyl transferase polypeptide has an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 7 or SEQ ID NO 8.4. The chimeric polypeptide according to claim 1 having an amino acid sequence which is characterized by at least 99% sequence identity with the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 12.5. A chimeric polypeptide according to claim 1 having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 12.6. An immunogenic composition comprising the chimeric polypeptide according to claim 1 together with a pharmaceutically acceptable adjuvant in an amount effective to elicit an immune response.7. An immunological adjuvant comprising an oil-in-water emulsion mixed with the premix, where the emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion comprises a mineral oil, Tween 80, Span 85 and one or more polymers.8. An adjuvant according to claim 7, wherein the emulsion premix contains a polymer with a high molecular weight surface active agent and an emulsifier in oil-in-water based.9. An adjuvant according to claim 7, further comprising a pre-selected antigens antigens which are native, recombinant or synthetic polypeptides, polysaccharides and glycoproteins.10.
