Applicator, such as a roller applicator, comprising a cooling element, such as a metal ball, and at least two flow channels extending between respective refrigerant inlets and refrigerant outlets. The flow channels provide a different thermal conductivity between the cooling element and a refrigerant passing the respective flow channel. The applicator comprises at least one stop for selectively blocking one or more of the flow channels, to adjust the overall heat exchange between the refrigerant and the cooling element.
