The present invention relates to a method for discharging fluid from a syringe and for attenuating occlusion conditions including actuating the plunger of a syringe within a barrel. The method monitors fluid pressure within the syringe barrel and determines that there is an occlusion when fluid pressure exceeds a predetermined limit.
