Compositions and methods for treating and/or preventing conditions such asdiaper rashand atopic dermatitis are disclosed. The compositions and methods areparticularly useful in thetreatment and prevention of diaper rash and diaper dermatitis caused by theprolonged contact ofhuman skin with body waste. The methods employ the topical application of atrypsin-inhibitingagent to the area in need of such treatment, or the area where prevention isdesired. The trypsin-inhibitingagent is preferably a divalent cation.
