PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating polluted soil which reduces the water holding amount of polluted soil by utilizing the working of nature without providing another equipment increasing in cost to prevent the expansion of pollution and also facilitates the detoxification treatment due to heating. SOLUTION: Seedlings of a plant of a kind, of which the average evaporation/diffusion quantity for a specific period is larger than or almost equal to an average precipitation for the specific period, or seedlings of plants of two or more kinds, of which the average evaporation/diffusion quantity for the specific period is larger than or almost equal to the average precipitation for the specific period, are planted in the polluted soil 1 permanently and grown.
