A biological fluid sampling and collection assembly comprising a biologicalfluid sampling device comprising a housing enclosing a biological fluidreservoir； an accesslumen establishing fluid communication between a vascular access device andthe reservoir；and an outflow lumen, extending from the housing, having a first end providedin fluidcommunication with the reservoir and a second end； and a sample collectiondevicecomprising: an adapter for allowing fluid communication between the interiorof the reservoirand the interior of the sample container； and a flow restrictor transitionablefrom an openposition, wherein fluid communication exists between the reservoir and thecontainer, to aclosed position, wherein the reservoir is in fluid isolation from thecontainer.
