PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a size-selective hemocompatible porous polymeric adsorbent system configured to function in direct contact with body fluids, particularly, blood.SOLUTION: The polymer system comprises at least one polymer with a plurality of pores. The polymer has at least one transport pore with a diameter of about 250 to about 2000 Å. The polymer has a transport pore volume greater than about 1.8% to about 78% of a capacity pore volume of the polymer. Preferably, the pores have diameters greater than 100 to 2000 Å.
