The present invention refers to phenanthrene derivatives for use as medicaments, in the prevention and/or treatment of Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1, Huntington's Disease Like 2, Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 8, Myotonic Dystrophy Type 2, Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 3, Fragile-X- Associated Tremor/ Ataxia Syndrome, Frontotemporal Degeneration/Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 31. In a preferred embodiment, phenanthrene derivatives of the invention are also used as antimyotonic agents. Therefore, this invention may be included either in the whole pharmaceutical or medical field.L'invention concerne l'utilisation de dérivés de phénanthrène comme médicaments pour la prévention et/ou le traitement de la dystrophie myotonique de type 1, de la maladie ressemblant à la chorée de Huntington (HDL2), de l'ataxie spinocérébelleuse de type 8, de la dystrophie myotonique de type 2, de l'ataxie spinocérébelleuse de type 3, du syndrome tremblement-ataxie lié au X fragile, de la dégénérescence lobaire fronto-temporale/sclérose latérale amyotrophique et de l'ataxie spinocérébelleuse de type 31. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, les dérivés de phénanthrène de l'invention sont également utilisés comme agents anti-myotoniques. L'invention peut s'appliquer au domaine pharmaceutique ou au domaine médical.
