PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition comprising a biologically active chitin-like oligomer, the refined endotoxin thereof and a partially deacetylated chitin polymer precursor, a pharmaceutical composition, a biomaterial composition, its use at a medical device and a process for producing the oligomer.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a therapeutically active chitooligomer,comprising: a step of deacetylating chitin to a deacetylation degree of 30 to 60% a step of dissolving the partially deacetylated chitin under an acidic condition a step of subjecting the same to enzymatic hydrolysis with specified kinase and a step of subjecting the obtained oligomer to ultrafiltration and collecting a held material.
