DEVICE FOR CANCELLATION OF LARGE MAGNETIC SUSCEPTIBILITY ARTIFACTS IN MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING OF PATIENTS WITH PACEMAKERS AND IMPLANTABLE CARDIAC DEFIBRILLATORS
The present invention is directed to a system and method for reducing large magnetic artifact susceptibility in magnetic resonance imaging. The present invention is used to maximize cancellation of the magnetic field distortion created when objects with high variations in magnetic susceptibility are placed in a uniform magnetic field. Particularly, the present invention reduces the magnetic resonance imaging artifact produced by pacemakers and internal cardiac defibrillators in order to maximize the diagnostic image quality in the region surrounding these devices.La présente invention concerne un système et un procédé pour réduire une grande susceptibilité magnétique dartéfact dans une imagerie par résonance magnétique. La présente invention est utilisée pour rendre maximale lannulation de la distorsion de champ magnétique créée lorsque des objets ayant des variations élevées de susceptibilité magnétique sont placés dans un champ magnétique uniforme. En particulier, la présente invention réduit lartéfact dimagerie par résonance magnétique produit par des stimulateurs cardiaques et des défibrillateurs cardiaques internes de façon à rendre maximale la qualité dimage de diagnostic dans la région entourant ces dispositifs.
