A preparation method of a eucommia extract comprises: (1) solvent extraction, wherein the solvent is selected from water, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, 1-butanol, ethylene glycol, 1,2-propanediol, 1,3-propanediol, 1,3-butanediol, acetone, ethyl acetate, or a combination thereof； (2) separation of the extract and residue, to obtain an extract； (3) optional recovery of the solvent； and (4) optional dissolution and dilution. The resulting eucommia extract has antioxidant and is anti-UVA and UVB radiation.
