596018 Disclosed are intramammary veterinary formulations for the treatment of mastitis, the formulations comprising a stable combination of at least two antibacterial agents selected from the group consisting of penicillins, at least one liquid oil-based carrier and hydrogenated phosphatidylcholine. Preferably the penicillins are a combination of at least two selected from the group consisting of benzathine penicillin, benzylpenicillin (penicillin G), procaine penicillin, cloxacillin, sodium cloxacillin and benzathine cloxacillin. The formulation may also include appropriate excipients to ensure the stability of the formulation. The disclosure also describes a method of treating or preventing mastitis in a non-human animal by administering an effective amount of the intramammary veterinary formulation of the invention to the animal.
